Dear Friends,
No one likes growing older, but
most of us would graciously
accept our wrinkles if we could
only keep our minds. For accomplished,
active Boomers the idea
of losing our faculties–whether it’s to Alzheimer’s or
stroke–is too much to bear. We appease our fears of
this cruel fate by deeming it something beyond our
control; a recent study from the National University
in Australia concluded that people overemphasize
the horrors of dementia while underemphasizing
their role in preventing it. But the simple, scientific
truth is this: prevention is not out of our control.
Study after study gives us sound reason to be confident
in the power of daily omega-3 supplementation
to significantly reduce the chances of Alzheimer’s and
stroke, and to help preserve and sustain a healthy,
lucid mind. This is based on objective clinical proof
from all corners of the globe. Wholly credible proof
that taking pro-active steps now will assure you the
best possible future in mind, body and spirit. Here’s
just a sampling of these new studies:
1) Harvard studies show that eating fish 5 times a
week reduces the risk of stroke in the elderly by 30%.
Now, few people could bring themselves to eat fish
that often, and the downside of ingesting excess mercury,
pesticides and other contaminants would make
it ill-advised.The solution? Well, unless you want to
take a dozen urpy capsules each day, or spend in
excess of $150 a month on high-end synthetics, there
is only one. Omega Cure. Each 2-3 teaspoon dose
equals the broad-spectrum omega-3 potency of a full
salmon dinner. One pleasant-tasting shot a day and
you can check “doing everything I can not to lose my
mind” off your list.
2) A new Swedish study concluded that fish oil even
helps people already experiencing mild dementia. Of
course, the earlier you begin taking OC the better,
but it’s nice to know that it’s (almost) never too late.
3) In Italy, an extensive study was done to test the
effects of fish oil on the cognitive abilities of healthy,
well functioning people. The tests included: Alert,
|
Go/ No Go, Choice, and Sustained Attention. After
one month of daily dosing, not only were there marked
improvements in all categories, there was a quantifiable
reduction in anger, anxiety and depression as well.
Both results seem to point to the swift and beneficial
effects of omega-3 on the central nervous system.
4) A secondary finding of the Harvard study on omega-3
was that it reduced the risk of macular degeneration
by more than 20%. An Australian trial found a 40%
reduction. (Another, in Austria, showed improved
vision in people with dry m.d.). Since the retina is
widely considered to be a mirror of the brain tissue
and its condition, this is yet another compelling finding
about fish oil and sustained brain health.
5) Tufts University has just completed a study showing
that high fish or fish oil intake will reduce the total
risk of dementia by 50%. These dramatic findings will
likely be published before the year is out.
By means of comparison, consider this: Aricept, the
leading prescription drug for Alzheimer’s disease
boasts a very slight reduction of symptoms. Drugs such
as Lipitor or Zocor, which are now taken by millions
of Americans to reduce the risk of heart disease, can
promise no more than a 25% decrease in the chances
in heart death, while fish oil, in a recent Swiss metastudy,
has been associated with a 35% reduction.
So, the good news is this: aging is not something to be
afraid of, but something to be prepared for. If you are
receiving this newsletter, you are already aware of the
tremendous benefits of daily OC use. Just remember
to take a full dose every day and to share your health
secret with as many people as possible. (If you’d like us
to pass this newsletter on, just send us the addresses.)
After all, old age will be a lot more fun if you can enjoy
it with quick-witted family and friends.
Skål!
